A 2010 Subaru Forester was brought to our workshop by the owner due to the existence of an apparent oil leak issue. On closer examination, we ascertained that there was a substantial oil leak stemming from the edge of the cylinder head gaskets.
After examining the vehicle, our team found a substantial oil leak from both the cylinder head gaskets. Due to its location, fixing the issue would involve removing the engine entirely.
Apart from the cylinder head gaskets issue, our technicians spotted a potential problem with the rear main oil seal which showed signs of wear and tear. Additionally, the vehicle's timing belt was also nearing its end of life and was due for replacement.
As the engine required removal to deal with the primary oil leak issue, this allowed us an opportunity to resolve the other observed potential problems concurrently, making it a cost and time-effective operation for the client.
Firstly, we replaced both the faulty cylinder head gaskets to tackle the significant oil leak. Our skilled mechanics took utmost care during the disassembly and reassembly of the engine. A fresh set of gaskets was installed with precision, thereby resolving the primary problem.
As this engine runs 2-cylinder heads, 2 head gaskets were changed and the cylinder heads were pressure tested and surface ground as required. While they were at the machine shop the valve seating pressures were checked and were found to be Ok.
While the engine was removed, we also took this opportunity to replace the worn-out rear main oil seal. This preventive maintenance step would safeguard the vehicle from any potential future oil leaks or possible engine damage.
Furthermore, our team replaced the due timing belt, as failure of this part can lead to serious engine damage, and it was timely given its scheduled maintenance period was nearly due.
By addressing the main issue as well as concurrently managing other potential problems, our team successfully carried out the comprehensive repair of the 2010 Subaru Forester within a scheduled timeline.
By the end of this extensive service process, the oil leak issue was rectified. Along with this, preventive maintenance of the rear main oil seal and the replacement of the timing belt resulted in an enhanced overall performance of the vehicle.
This case illustrates our proactive approach to automobile maintenance, our efficient management of the process, and our dedication to comprehensive service that extends beyond simply solving the immediate problem.
Our ability to foresee potential issues and deal with them concurrently, coupled with a knack for turning problems into opportunities for overall improvement, resulted in high client satisfaction. It ensured that the 2010 Subaru Forester left our workshop running more efficiently and reliably than when it arrived.
